Weaving Together Harlow: Place To Be Sculpture Building at Parndon Wood

From kids to grandparents, Harlow’s community are bringing the Place To Be public sculptures to life!

🌿 Two Weeks In – Place To Be at Parndon Wood Nature Reserve 🌿

What a brilliant first two weeks of weekend workshops for Place To Be at Parndon Wood Nature Reserve!

Community members of all ages add layers of willow to the growing sculptures at Place To Be in Parndon Wood Nature Reserve, creating intricate and tactile forms together.

The sculptures are now about halfway built — but we still need your hands to help us complete them. Our goal is a thick, intricate weave of willow with no gaps between the sticks, creating a beautiful, tactile surface. The more people we have, the richer and more vibrant the sculptures will become.

It’s been amazing to see such a mix of ages and backgrounds getting involved — from very young children learning to weave for the first time to adults discovering willow as a new material.

✨ Watching the people of Harlow relax, chat and connect with nature while contributing to the sculptures has been wonderful. Many adults have found the slow, hands-on rhythm of weaving to be calming and creative, and children have been proud to see their work become part of something bigger.

This weekend we’ll be adding more layers, more colour, and more community spirit into the sculptures so make sure you don’t miss out!
