Place To Be

Step into the peaceful surroundings of Parndon Wood Nature Reserve this August and take part in something truly special.

Place To Be is a community weaving project that invites you to slow down, reconnect, and create something meaningful together.

Join us as we shape a large, organic sculpture installation using simple, meditative techniques like weaving, winding and binding with willow. Whether you’re a seasoned maker or just curious to try something new, this is your chance to be part of an evolving piece of communal art — one that reflects the beauty of nature, the power of connection, and the comfort of sanctuary.

Illustration featuring a smiling vegetable character with leaves on its head and the text 'Place To Be' and 'A Woodland Weaving Project'. Two smaller vegetables with leaves are on either side of the main character.

As more hands get involved, the sculpture will grow in texture, colour, and complexity — a shared creation, like a nest or den, built through many small contributions.

The final piece will reflect the diversity and creativity of everyone who takes part. Just like bees building a hive or ants forming a colony, this is a communal effort rooted in nature, creativity, and connection.

Drop in between 12pm- 3pm every Saturday and Sunday throughout August 2025.

Everyone welcome including children and families— no experience needed, just curiosity and a willingness to drop in and weave a little magic in the woods.
